saturday afternoon

my husband loves to fix up old bikes.
i love antiques.
some days, we drive and dream together about working for ourselves.
he wants to operate a motorcycle business out of our garage,
and i even think it might be fun to own a little antique shop someday
when the kids are a bit more independent.
we love watching american pickers,
and want to do that, too...
just on a smaller scale right now.

saturday afternoon, jason was checking craigslist
and came across an ad for a really, really cheap old bike.
they had already had a lot of calls,
but promised to save it for jason.
he knows the game,
and offered more than the asking price...
he also knows the bike,
and knew we wouldn't come out with less than what he was paying.

my dad let us take his truck,
and he also watched the three oldest so that i could ride along.
he's a pretty nice guy.

"road trips" make you do funny things,
especially when you're really tired.
i had my camera with me since i was taking pics for my bff's extended fam at 5,
and wasn't sure if i would be back in time to drive myself...
so i decided to practice taking pictures like the teenagers do--
you know, with duck lips...
or with your tongue hanging out...

i could barely keep my composure.
i was cracking myself up.
jason was laughing at first,
and then begging me to stop.

he finally had enough,
and tickled me really bad,
right when i was taking a picture.

good thing i had my camera strap wrapped around my hand,
because i dropped my camera!

i finally settled down,

and took pictures of the beautiful country scenery...

i really do love kansas.
we don't have mountains, but there's just something about a broad expanse of land,
or seeing crops and farmers out, tending to their livelihood.
i wish we were farmers.

as much as i enjoy some lovely scenery,
i was still tired, and that means i was still really goofy...
it's a good thing that my husband was on the same wave length.

we started making up corny country songs...

well, he did.
i would just sing ones i know...

until we got to haven.

"we're comin' up on haven and it, really is a haven..."

that was a good one, huh?!
ha!
 it made jason laugh. =)

we were finally there, and jason got out to go get the bike...

me?

i just took more pictures...

check out that old title!

i love that jason is such a people person.
there were probably a dozen people on the property cleaning up.
it had been their dad's house, and he was a "collector".
he hadn't thrown anything away in 50+ years.
they had been there working for a year.

at first they didn't like us there,
but by the time we left, my husband had won them over
and they invited us back to come "pick".
to say we are excited is an understatement.
there are allll kinds of old treasures out there.
i can't wait!
