post-zumba ramblings

* tonight was my favorite night so far, both instructor and music-wise.

*my knees hurt soo much. i can't even do a lot of the jumps in class. does that mean i'm getting old (even if i've always had knee trouble)?

*it makes me happy when i can out dance the skinny high school girls.

*it makes me sad when i look like the girls i made fun of in high school. (like the junior varsity girls).

*hip hop dance is my thang. always has been. haha prolly 'cause i went to south high.

*i'm white, but i have rhythm. at least i did...but it's coming back. thank goodness.

*i go to class 3 or so times a week. all of the days in between, the various songs are stuck in my head. that means i'm usually singing songs in languages i don't know. kinda scary.

*i've only been by myself one time. it was no bueno. #1, i almost died of a heart attack. #2, that's why i haven't been back to that certain class. it's hard core. i'm not. yet.
*the only reason i agreed to get a Y membership again was so that i could zumba...cause i don't realize i'm exercising. instead, i think i'm practicing for the half time performance back in the day.

*me and my girl kyle are ex-dance teamers and we are working up to the once a month 2 hour zumba class. it'll be a blast...and we get a shirt. that will mean we're legit. too legit to quit. yes, i went there.

ok, that is all. goodnight.

ps you should come dance, too. it would be fun.

"And I Was Running!!"

I've always hated running. The whole my-side-is-killing-me-and-I-can't-breathe thing has never been appealing. In fact, strenuous exercise has never been my favorite past time. I would much rather take a walk at a nice, leisurely pace...and when we're done, go to Freddy's for a chocolate concrete with brownie to cool off. Mmm...
Well, nursing Ali has helped me to drop off extra baby weight I was carrying since I had Syd, and now that she's almost 1 and almost done, I want to make sure I keep it off. Jason's also trying to get in tip top shape for the Fire Dept, so we came up with a plan.
Rather than paying almost $70/month for a gym membership, we decided to invest in a double jogging stroller. If getting toned and in good shape wasn't motivation enough, now I have the motivation to get our money's worth out of this stroller! If you're a cheapskate like I am, you know how motivating that is! =)
We started running last Saturday, and it's going really well. Jason was really encouraging. I thought I was going to die that day. My hands were up like I was praising Jesus--but I just couldn't breathe!! Now, I actually look forward to our time out each day. It's good for my mental health and I'm finding that I have muscles in my core that I never knew existed! The girls love it, too. They even held hands the first day in the stroller. It was so cute!

So, even though I haven't been posting in awhile, at least I've been productive! =)
