easter day 2011

this post is going to be super picture heavy.
i have to let the pictures speak for me for the most part.
i've been "sick" and it's now affecting my concentration.
for reals.
i have fluid on my inner ear, and i thought that maybe it was a blockage,
so i tried to fix it myself.
well, i got even more fluid in there and ended up with vertigo so bad that i couldn't walk.
i am on medication...that is almost gone...and while it helps if i religiously take it every 6 hrs,
i don't have a refill and immediate care won't do anything unless i pay another $90 to come in again.
(that's not going to happen since they already told me the first time they can't do much in that setting).
i found a comprehensive symptom list for labrinthitis,
and i have a lot of those symptoms,
including difficulty concentrating, short term memory lapses, confusion, etc.
i have a hard time finishing a blog post,
so i hope you don't get too bored with me!
...in the mean time, if you think about it, say a prayer!
hopefully it will remedy itself in the next few weeks,
but jesus works better than medicine!

the kids woke up to their easter baskets filled.
we don't do much candy. they get plenty of that throughout the day,
but i like to have little surprises for them:

happy first easter, max!

they went on an egg hunt as soon as they were done with their baskets:

we were ready for church early, so i wanted to get some pictures:

this was ali's pose automatically.
i'm in trouble.

..aaaand then we were 15 minutes late for church.

after church was an egg hunt,

and then on to my mom's for another egg hunt,

and we finished up with church at our dear friends' house,
loving and praising the Reason we celebrate easter.
it was a long, wonderful day.
hmm..
so i ended up saying a lot.
if my pictures are speaking for me for the most part,
heaven help me.
the end.

easter eve

we dyed eggs:

we're missing an egg because jax tried to eat it.

and then everyone went to bed...except me.
we've all been sick in one way or another
(except for ali...and that's because the lord is merciful. she doesn't suffer well.)
and jason was pretty sick saturday night.
i stayed up to get all of the easter stuff ready for the morning.

i had started some peg dolls at a peg doll party my friend, jess, hosted awhile back.
i finished painting them friday night,
and made wings, flowers and a hat that night.
apparently i wasn't tired enough,
because i then set up an impromptu photo shoot for them.
never mind the hideous lighting *gag*.
it was fun.
they are super cute
(in general, i'm not being prideful!)
and they're fun to make!

i wanted to paint batman, but i have sort of a short attention span...
so he got a gnome--and i love it.
it's cool 'cause he likes it & made the connection that he has a gnome hat, too.
i was kind of surprised that they didn't toss them to the side.
they actually play with them.
score one for simplicity.

i forgot!

ever since our first valentine's day together, i have made jason a card every year.
i forgot to include it in my vday post, so here it is!

i found this vintage valentine at the flea market, and knew it was perfect to go on the front of jason's card.
love, love, love it.

also, since i was asked, here is the recipe i used for the fortune cookies.

ok, no more vday posts from me, i promise!

the very best day

*morning*

i woke up to an envelope with my name on it,
IMG_7532

and inside was a handmade card from my love.
IMG_7550

he's never made me a card before, but he wanted to this year
so he got up early and used my card making supplies
to create this sweet memento.

*afternoon*

my mother in law came over with valentines for the kids
while my man and i went on a hot date, via motorcycle.

our first stop was a local cafe in quaint riverside.

IMG_7533

we enjoyed lunch and espresso, chatted about life, love, art,
how fun it would be to catch some local artists' shows,
and how nice it was to feel like someone other than mom and dad for a little bit.
for the first time, we weren't rollin' the minivan.

IMG_7543
too bad i missed focus.
this would have been a really cute picture!

we cruised through riverside and walked in the park for a little bit
before deciding to go thrifting to see if i could find a riding jacket...

and i did!

 *evening*

my sister had really been wanting to babysit for us on valentine's day,
so we "gave in" and let her and her friend come over while we went to
starbucks & a few stores down the street.

IMG_7544

IMG_7546

we talked about how fun it is now that we've found ourselves,
talked about dreams, our future, and our family.
i want to know how to drive a motorcycle, and he is ecstatic to show me how.
we both decided we like the feel of a local cafe better,
and relished in our alone time.

things went exceptionally well with the kids at home, and after i dropped our sitters off,
we finished off the evening playing dice.
it was honestly, truly, the best date(s) we've ever had.

fortune cookie valentines

sunday night, the fam and i made valentines for grandparents. i saw a version of this on a blog, but i thought it would be more fun to make the fortune cookies instead of buying them. jason made me fortune cookies for my birthday one year, and he said they were easy and fun to make. can't beat that, right?!

i no longer have "server hands" that are used to really hot surfaces, and so handling the hot-out-of-the-oven fortune cookies didn't seem so appealing. thankfully, my husband has tough hands and took over for me once they came out of the oven!

(he stuck them in the muffin tin so that they would hold their shape)

the kids each took turns dipping the fortune cookies in chocolate, mommy put sprinkles on,
and tony took pictures while jason kept folding!

cutesy little heart shape!
i'm not even a "heart" person, but i like these!

yummy heart day!
