antiquing

my mom and i have talked forever about going to the antique stores together. we finally had the chance to go on tuesday afternoon.

it was huge--
as in, we only got through half of it.
we saw sooo much.
it's like going through a museum, the flea market and the best garage/estate sale ever
all at once.

here are some of the things we saw:
antique1
1. i used to play the flute & i dig old instruments.
2. coffee grinders
3.buttons, buttons and lots more buttons!
4. owl bank
5. a vanity/bench set i loved.

antique2
6. beautiful old tables
7. high chair/rocker/stroller in one. beautiful and expensive!
8. 1920s phone
9. old tins (my mom collects them)

antique3
10. old violin
11. i married an arab
it was random and made me laugh...
but yeah...i married a german.
12. loverly yellow pitcher
13. button flowers
14. skee ball, retro style

antique4
15. vintage ornaments. loved them..but didn't want to pay $3/ea.
16. leather bound book of...well, snap shots!
17. this squirrel's crazy eyes made me giggle.

antique5
18. my mom had these dolls when she was little.
she literally gasped when she saw them.
it was neat to relive that with her.
19. i love these old cat clocks, and i've never seen it in yellow--
i'm just not into the rhinestones!
20. bitty little piano

after seeing this old laundry "machine", i may never complain about doing laundry again.
(yes i will).

day 61: puzzle

day61

reluctantly, i agreed to do a puzzle with the girls.
when i say reluctantly, i mean that toward the puzzle,
not spending time with the girls.
while i loathe puzzles,
i love hanging out with my kids,
so that's what we did...
and it was most definitely worth it.

Botanica

Here are some pictures from the Mother-Daughter Night at Botanica Wednesday evening:

She started out less than thrilled...

...so she decided to scare us and see if we would stop...

That didn't work--and as they say, misery loves company! Her "company" didn't appreciate being brought into her misery.

She was happy with Mema, though!

This is how most of the rest of the evening was spent

Ali was easier to distract, and was therefore much easier to photograph

Syd actucally posed herself for this one...and then was absolutely done with having her picture taken.

This was Ali's favorite. She sat still for a long time trying to figure out how to eat the flower without us knowing.

So obviously Syd wasn't happy about being our model...but we were still able to have a good time. It was perfect weather and a great opportunity to spend time with my girls and my mom. Maybe I should just stick with taking pictures of flowers like the one I took for my blog header. They stay still for a lot longer!! =)
