day 62: fresh air

we were able to get out and enjoy some fresh air this afternoon while daddy did some pre-spring cleaning.

jaxon checked to see how dogs explore...

and then he did some of his own, on foot--

...he had some sweet new kicks to help him out on the rough terrain...

...and then he got his game on--

(i think he won)

and of course ali did some exploring of her own...

in her pajamas...

it did everyone a lot of good to be out in the sunshine & fresh air today.

c'mon, spring!

day 61: puzzle

reluctantly, i agreed to do a puzzle with the girls.

when i say reluctantly, i mean that toward the puzzle,

not spending time with the girls.

while i loathe puzzles, 

i love hanging out with my kids, 

so that's what we did...

and it was most definitely worth it.

day 60: electricity

so a long time ago,

at least a year,

our microwave fried. 

i heard a funny sound in the night, and

the next thing we knew, the outlet it was plugged into wasn't working,

along with the garbage disposal...but see that other switch?

that's the overhead light above the sink.

it still worked.

i know...

anyway, we had other outlets on that wall (only in the living room, not the kitchen) fried as a result of that,

and so we've had various cords and ghetto rigging going on

because we were too skeered to call an electrician...

sounded expensive.

well, ladies and gentlemen,

we are no longer ghetto.

at least with our electricity.

we got the name of a good electrician that recently did a lot of work on our church,

and for under $100, it was fixed!

i never thought i would be so excited to be extension cord free...

and to have a working garbage disposal.

we're movin' on up!

day 59: crossed eyes

i think 10 years from now, when sydney looks back on all of the pictures of herself, she's going to ask me,

"mom, were my eyes really crossed?!"

it's hard to get a normal picture of this girl, and i fear it will only grow worse--

changing to the "pained" smile karma writes about with her boys, and so on.

anyway, ali now can cross her eyes, too...

...or so she thinks. 

(she's like her mama--only i know i can't!)

day 58: chairs

i didn't post an actual 365 yesterday, so i'm catching up.

we've outgrown our dining room table.

instead of going in debt, we were going to save up for another set,

but then we came across these chairs.

they were from a restaurant that closed down, and we were

able to buy them for less than $10/ea.

i'd say they're worth it!

now, to save up for a couch...

day 57: judah's 1!

tonight, we had a birthday party to celebrate judah turning one!

happy birthday, little man! 

we're glad we could come celebrate with you!

day 56: u-g-l-y

i can cook. really, i can...

but i make ugly pancakes.

they taste good,

but they're ugly.

i can never get them perfectly round,

and i'm a little awkward at flipping them sometimes.

they do taste good, and i suppose that's all that matters in the end,

but i don't like ugly food.

how am i supposed to achieve june cleaver status someday 

if i can't get consistently round, evenly cooked pancakes?

i bet it's the apron.

maybe i just need to whip a full apron up...

(since i never use my half apron)

i bet that will help...

and maybe a pretty dress, too.

please don't judge me.

i'm going to go eat the evidence now.

day 55: our late night

our kids are usually in bed by 8, but while we are taking FPU, this is our late night.

6:40: Leave to drop the kids off

6:50: Kids dropped off at Dad's, head to the church

6:55: Arrive at church, ready for cupcakes and Dave Ramsey

9:15: Leave church, head back to Dad's

9:20: Arrive at Dad's...and eat...and talk...

10:05: Loading up and leaving

10:15: Home, sweet home

10:20: Kids are in bed

10:22: Realization that I haven't yet taken a picture today

10:25-27ish: Picture of the day

10:35: Attempting to make this post a bit more interesting than 

just a picture of our clock. ;)

day 54: peter pan

in this house, peter pan peanut butter is the only peanut butter, per my husband.

apparently, the love of it has been passed down.

jaxon joined jason in the kitchen this afternoon

to finish our jar off--

on his own, he crawled up onto jason's lap, laid down like this,

started smacking his little lips and said, "Buh." (bite).

so cute!

day 53: budgeting

i've been working this week on next month's budget.

i'm such a nerd...

i love doing it and am really excited about starting the envelope system.

FPU rocks my socks.

day 52: just like daddy

i always love to watch personality emerge from our babies as they grow.

naturally, jaxon is already wanting to be just like daddy.

he always wants to wear his hats,

so imagine how excited he was when he discovered he has his own!

this is what my two favorite men looked like before heading off to church...

and in case you're wondering, yes, my heart instantly melted.

day 51: mowgli

one of syd's favorite movies to watch with papa every week is The Jungle Book.

this has become her favorite face to make--

day 50: fishing in a dress

ali found a 'fishing pole' that went to a puzzle we no longer have...so we improvised!

a few sheets of construction paper and a laundry soap making bucket later, we had ourselves a fishing pond:

if i had this kind of luck every time, 

i would go fishing a lot more often!

day 49: scaling a mountain

jaxon has taken to climbing, at the expense of his mommy's heart.

he climbed up onto the chair, and up on to the table 

right in front of me...

so i did what any responsible mother would--

i put him down so i could go get my camera

and then had his sister make sure he didn't fall 

while i snapped a couple shots.

the scariest part is that he does his when i'm not right beside him.

life with boys, yes?

day 48: taxes

i love seeing this little folder each year...

it means money is coming soon!

woo hoo!!!

day 47: horsey rides

daddy was sweet talked into giving the girls horsey rides around the living room...

not that they had to do much sweet talking...

 

things were going well, and the girls were enjoying their leisurely ride, until the horsey started bucking...

and then it turned into a BLAST!

they decided to explore other areas, and found a sweet little boy

who happens to be crazy about his daddy...

he also thinks he needs to always do what his sisters are doing

(unless it's girly stuff, of course)

and so he joined in on the fun...

(i just love ali's face in this one)

day 46: the last 'first'

jax was happy to celebrate his last 'first' before he turns one...

as we found out, he loves, loves balloons.

so much so, that he popped it less than 24 hrs after getting it...

so he did what any brother would do--

threw a fit for his sisters' balloons!

day 45: love, sweet love

this picture obviously wasn't taken today, but i find it appropriate, nonetheless.

i am thankful for this man, my best and sweetest friend,

the one i love more and more as the days pass.

it's hard to find the adequate words,

but i am blessed.

so very, very blessed.

i love you, so.

happy valentine's day, my love.

day 44: swimming soup

for some reason, ali took her pants and underwear off...

i told her to go put some on, 

and she came out with sydney's "swimming soup" on.

and just for the record, her little legs fit through one leg opening 

and up around her waist,

therefore defeating the purpose of 'undapants'.

simplified!
